ТОРМОШ ТАҪТАМАЛЫ | LIFE’S CANVAS
The series is based on a ceremonial towel таҫтамал. The embroidered towel has been a symbol of ancestral amulets since ancient times and is a source of the rich and unique history and culture of the Bashkir people. It connects a person with his family and ancestors by invisible ties. Embroidered patterns, ornaments are a coded message about destiny, nature, customs of our people and are conditioned by unique national colouring.
On my towels, strings (especially if we consider strings as vibrating objects that create complex structures and patterns) are metaphorical threads of energy that weave the canvas of the time of the species. The ornaments contain the meanings that make up the memory of my ancestors (culture of relations with nature, occupation, peculiarities of everyday life).
ӨЙҘӘ | AT HOME
The concept of HOME has always been associated with warmth, comfort and care. Home is not only a good, solid roof over your head under which you can wait out bad weather. Home is also a mother’s womb. Perhaps that is why children like to snuggle into their mother’s lap when they are waiting to be calm and cared for.
Семәрле атсыҡ | CARVED RIDGE
The Bashkirs believed that symbols of horses on the roof joints would protect the house and its inhabitants from evil spirits and negative energy. Horses facing in different directions symbolised protection from all sides of the world.
ҠӘҘЕРЛЕ ҠУНАҠ _FAVOURITE GUEST
It is still a good tradition to welcome a guest. To make the traveller drunk with tea with milk and natural Bashkir honey, to treat him to a hot pie with meat and shurpa. Say goodbye to guests by handing out kustanas — sweets and pastries.
