Roza Khalikova

visual artist|digital painter

Roza Khalikova is a media artist specialising in digital art with a focus on glitch photography and video art, 3D modelling, augmented and virtual reality technologies. My work explores the interplay between the physical and the energetic, seeking to reveal the invisible connections between past and present, taking the viewer beyond ordinary perception.

A central theme in my work is the influence of genetic memory on our perception of reality. I see the vibrations recorded in our bodies through the generational chain as a form of energy that continues to construct our present and influence our view of the world. In this context, my work becomes an expression of ancestral energy passed down through time and its influence on how I interact with nature.

My practice is informed by the scientific concepts of quantum string theory and neuroscientific concepts of memory. I use digital technologies to deconstruct landscapes and create layered abstractions that transform familiar natural imagery. Glitch effects and fragmented layers create illusions of energetic vibrations that transmit distorted memories of ancestral experiences through time. These abstractions play with the viewer’s sensory experience, evoking a sense of physical objects being transformed into energetic forms that expand beyond the visible.

My work offers a new perspective on the ephemeral relationship between man, ancestral memory and the natural environment, where the real and the virtual, the past and the present are intertwined in a single stream of visual experience. I aim to encourage the viewer to rethink their perception of the world by highlighting the subtle structures that connect man and nature.

Works can be found in private collections in Russia.

HOW I SEE

Memory deformation is an adaptive behavior of the brain. How do we remember an incredible amount of memories? It is inevitable that images overlap in memory, especially since some of them are similar and therefore create interference. And you also need to exaggerate the difference between similar events so as not to confuse them. Through my work, I explore this property of our consciousness and show you how incredible landscapes, bright celestial shades, the existence of animals in harmony and human habitats remain in my memory.
